China Celebrates Double Gold Medals at Winter Olympics

Beijing, February 19: On February 18, during the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, Chinese athletes Su Yiming and Shu Mengtao won gold medals in men’s snowboard slopestyle and women’s freestyle skiing aerial, respectively. The Chinese team achieved this remarkable feat in one day, raising the national flag twice and igniting excitement among countless Chinese citizens.

Su Yiming secured the first gold medal for the Chinese team in men’s snowboard slopestyle at the Winter Olympics. He delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 82.41 points in the first round, which placed him in the lead. Maintaining his consistency throughout the next two rounds, Su ultimately clinched the championship based on his initial score. This marks Su Yiming’s second gold medal at the Winter Olympics.

Previously, he won in the men’s snowboard big air event at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Notably, this victory coincides with Su Yiming’s 22nd birthday.

In the women’s freestyle skiing aerial final, Shu Mengtao also claimed a gold medal. This victory represents the second gold medal for the Chinese delegation at this Winter Olympics.
