Beijing, March 9: On March 9, during the fourth plenary session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), a second press conference titled “Representative Corridor” was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Senior captain Ni Ti from China COSCO Shipping Corporation (CCSC) engaged with reporters, sharing insights from his extensive experience in the shipping industry.
Ni Ti has been involved in the shipping sector for the past 28 years, during which he has traveled to over 30 countries and regions. He mentioned that the total distance he has sailed is enough to circle the Earth more than 30 times. Throughout his career, he has witnessed significant and rapid changes in China’s shipping industry firsthand.
He emphasized that China not only possesses the world’s largest shipping fleet but also boasts the largest group of world-class ports. China’s share of international maritime freight is approximately one-third. Ni Ti also highlighted the operational launch of the Chancay Port in Peru, which has enabled “two-way travel” between Shanghai Port and Chancay Port. Notably, Shanghai Port has maintained its position as the world’s top port in annual container throughput for 16 consecutive years. He expressed pride in being part of this transformative process and witnessing these changes.
