Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar Visits Temples in Kangra and Dharamshala

Dharamshala, June 6: On the second day of his visit to Himachal Pradesh, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar participated in spiritual activities by visiting major religious sites in the Kangra Valley. Officials reported this on Saturday.

According to an official statement, Gyanesh Kumar, accompanied by family members, visited the Kangra Fort and the renowned Bajreshwari Devi Temple, where he offered prayers. He also visited the Chamunda Devi Temple in Dharamshala, seeking blessings for the prosperity of the state.

Earlier, on Friday, the Chief Election Commissioner arrived in Dharamshala, where he held a meeting with election officials and booth-level officers (BLOs) to review the electoral preparations.

During his interaction with the BLOs, he praised their efforts in updating the voter list and maintaining its accuracy.

This visit comes at a crucial time as preparations are underway for the potential assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, scheduled for November 2027. Elections will be held for all 68 assembly seats in the state.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission announced that the special intensive revision phase-3 has commenced for voter enumeration in Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Manipur.

According to the Commission, this process began on May 3. Eligible voters whose enumeration forms reach the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) by June 28, 2026, will have their names included in the draft voter list.

Voters who are unable to submit their forms by June 28 can apply using Form-6 along with the prescribed declaration during the claim and objection period.

The Election Commission stated that during this process, BLOs are visiting homes to provide voters with enumeration forms. Voters can submit completed forms through BLOs or online.

To ensure maximum coverage, BLOs will visit each household to distribute, collect, and verify forms. They will carry at least 30 blank Form-6s and declaration forms to provide immediate assistance to new voter registration applicants.
