Dhamtari, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 marked a significant moment for the ambitious Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). This initiative is turning the dream of self-reliant India into reality by providing unemployed youth with accessible bank loans and government subsidies. It empowers them to become job creators rather than job seekers.
Shakir Khan from Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, exemplifies this transformation. With the support of the PMEGP scheme, he launched his own hotel and is now a successful entrepreneur, employing six to seven young individuals.
In an interview, Shakir shared that starting a business was once just a dream for him. However, under the PMEGP scheme, he easily secured a bank loan and received government subsidies, making his hotel venture possible. Today, his business is thriving.
He emphasized that without the introduction of this scheme by the Modi government, his entrepreneurial aspirations would have remained unfulfilled. Shakir believes that the PMEGP plays a crucial role in empowering youth and enhancing their economic independence.
The PMEGP scheme aims to provide self-employment opportunities for youth, women, and rural populations. It offers financial assistance and subsidies for starting industries, services, and small businesses, enabling thousands to establish their livelihoods. Various government initiatives, including PMEGP, have not only changed lives but also set examples in society, guiding many towards new opportunities.
