Raipur, June 16: Chhattisgarh’s Health Minister, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, has clarified the recent increase in electricity prices. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he stated that the hike is merely 36 paise per unit and is not driven by any personal agenda from the government.
Jaiswal explained, “Given the global situation, there is economic instability everywhere. Inflation has risen. The electricity department determines rates based on costs and production. Prices fluctuate over time. This is not for any personal gain of the government.”
He emphasized that the evaluation of electricity rates is conducted by the Electricity Regulatory Commission. The government has sufficient funds for all its welfare schemes. He also compared this to the pricing of diesel and petrol, which are also set by the regulatory commission.
Targeting the Congress party, Jaiswal remarked that the opposition is struggling to find solid issues to raise. He accused them of attempting to create a negative atmosphere, stating, “Congress has no substantial issues.”
The minister pointed out that during Congress’s tenure, consumers faced exorbitant electricity bills. He noted that the Congress party seems confused, with statements from its leaders often contradicting each other.
Jaiswal asserted that the Chhattisgarh government is successfully implementing all welfare schemes without any hindrance. The slight increase in electricity rates has been made considering global economic conditions and production costs.
On a positive note, the Health Minister congratulated and wished success to newly admitted children as the new academic session begins. He remarked that education is a gem that gradually shines and brightens life.
