Chaos Erupts at Jharkhand T20 Final as Crowd Surge Injures Several

Ranchi, June 23: A chaotic scene unfolded at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) International Stadium in Dhurwa on Tuesday evening during the final match of the Jharkhand Premier League T20 cricket tournament. A massive crowd led to a stampede, resulting in injuries to several attendees. Three individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Witnesses reported that some spectators damaged gates and barricades following the incident. Cricket fans began arriving at the stadium in large numbers from the afternoon, anticipating the final match. As the match approached, the crowd at the west gate swelled unexpectedly.

Delays in the entry process and security checks caused long queues. The pressure from the growing crowd led to pushing and shoving near the gates, creating a stampede situation. Reports indicate that multiple people sustained injuries, with three individuals sent to Raj Hospital in Ranchi for medical care.

Hospital sources confirmed that the injured included one young man and two young women, who are currently receiving treatment. Frustration among the crowd escalated as the situation worsened.

Eyewitnesses noted that some attendees, irritated by the disorganization and delays, attempted to breach the security perimeter. This resulted in damage to a section of the west gate and barricading.

Upon receiving news of the incident, police and administrative officials arrived on the scene to manage the crowd. The situation was brought under control after additional security forces were deployed.

Authorities have stated that a thorough investigation into the incident is underway. Security measures at the stadium have been tightened. This incident during the final match has raised significant concerns regarding crowd management and safety protocols at large events.
