This special occasion for the worship of Goddess Durga spans nine days, starting from the Shukla Paksha Pratipada of the Chaitra month. This year, Chaitra Navratri commences on March 19. The first day of Navratri holds significant importance for Ghatasthapana, where a pot is established for the worship of the goddess.
During Chaitra Navratri, devotees worship the nine forms of Goddess Durga over the nine days. There is also a tradition of sowing barley, known as Jwara, alongside Ghatasthapana. The festival concludes with Ram Navami, celebrating the victory of Goddess Durga.
According to the Drik Panchang, the auspicious time for Ghatasthapana is from 6:52 AM to 7:43 AM on Thursday, totaling 50 minutes. Additionally, the Abhijit Muhurat for Ghatasthapana is from 12:05 PM to 12:53 PM, which is considered highly favorable. If the main Muhurat is not feasible, one can take advantage of the Abhijit Muhurat. Religious scriptures suggest that Ghatasthapana should be performed after sunrise and during an appropriate Muhurat.
On March 19, sunrise will occur at 6:26 AM, and sunset will be at 6:32 PM. The Amavasya Tithi will last until 6:52 AM, after which Pratipada will begin and continue until 4:52 AM the following day. The Nakshatra will be Uttarabhadrapada until 4:05 AM the next day, after which Revati will commence.
Regarding the auspicious timings on Thursday, Brahma Muhurat is from 4:51 AM to 5:39 AM, Vijay Muhurat from 2:30 PM to 3:18 PM, and Godhuli Muhurat from 6:29 PM to 6:53 PM. Amrit Kaal will be from 11:32 PM to 1:03 AM.
On the first day of Navratri, the inauspicious times include Rahukal from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Yamgand from 6:26 AM to 7:57 AM, Gulik Kaal from 9:28 AM to 10:58 AM, and Durmuhurt from 10:28 AM to 11:17 AM.
