New Delhi, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organized a special 45-minute interactive Talkathon titled “Drug-Free Youth for Developed India” on Saturday, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a drug-free India. Thousands of students, educators, and experts participated, discussing issues related to substance abuse, mental health, and the importance of a drug-free lifestyle.
Prime Minister Modi had urged the nation to combat the evils of drugs and substance abuse on August 2, 2026. The Talkathon aimed to inspire students to become healthy, aware, and responsible citizens as part of the vision for a developed India by 2047.
Prior to the event, CBSE invited students to submit questions via social media platforms like X, Instagram, and YouTube, using the hashtags #DrugFreeYouth and #CBSETalkathon. During the Talkathon, experts answered these questions live.
The panel of experts included Dr. Nand Kumar from the Psychiatry Department at AIIMS, Alka Awasthi, Principal of Mayur School in Noida, and Dr. Anis C. from the Narcotics Control Bureau. The event was co-hosted by Samia, a 12th-grade student from PM Shri Central School, RK Puram, and Rohit Singh, a 12th-grade student from PM Shri Central School No. 3, Delhi Cantt. DD News provided technical and broadcasting support for the program.
Students raised questions on various topics, including mental health, coping with peer pressure, overcoming addiction, and adopting a responsible lifestyle. The experts provided detailed responses, encouraging students to stay informed and seek help when needed.
According to CBSE, the event was broadcast live on their official YouTube channel and received significant engagement on social media, with the #CBSETalkathon trending as the number one topic in India during the event. The board emphasized the Talkathon as a crucial step in establishing direct communication with the youth.
