CBI Arrests DGCA Officials in Major Corruption Crackdown

New Delhi, April 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a significant operation against corruption, arresting Mudavath Devula, the Deputy Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), along with a representative from a private company.

This arrest pertains to a bribery case involving ₹2.5 lakh, with the full amount of the bribe seized during the operation.

On Saturday, the CBI registered a case against the DGCA official and the private company representative based in New Delhi. According to the investigation agency, the accused public servant allegedly solicited bribes from private parties in exchange for approving pending applications and issuing necessary permits at the DGCA. Following a complaint, the CBI swiftly set up a trap and caught the suspects red-handed.

Subsequently, the CBI conducted searches at four different locations in Delhi linked to the accused officials and associated private individuals. The investigation team uncovered substantial evidence of illegal assets, including ₹37 lakh in cash, gold and silver coins, as well as several digital devices.

The arrested individuals include Mudavath Devula, Deputy Director General of the DGCA, and Bharat Mathur, a senior vice president at a private company. Both are currently being interrogated, and a thorough investigation is underway.

CBI officials indicate that further revelations may emerge from this case, and the scope of the investigation will be expanded as necessary.
