Kolkata, July 30: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has reacted to the seizure of millions in cash and gold from the residence of Tullu Mandal, a close associate of Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mandal. He accused the previous Mamata Banerjee government of fostering individuals who were looting resources. Ghosh stated that the police have just begun their actions, and many more revelations are expected.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Ghosh said, “There are many brokers like Tullu Mandal. The previous TMC government created such individuals. Resources that were looted and the ‘cut money’ collected were sent to Kalighat with police assistance through these brokers. Now everything is coming to light. The police have initiated action, and many more individuals will be exposed.”
He added, “Anubrata Mandal was a significant leader, so it is not surprising that his associates amassed considerable wealth. If he had 10-20 crores or even 50-100 crores, many of his associates likely have similar amounts.”
Dilip Ghosh emphasized that the development of districts like Birbhum, Murshidabad, Purulia, and Bankura has been hindered due to such individuals. For years, these districts’ resources were exploited, benefiting neither the public nor the government treasury. Some individuals have accumulated millions, and it is now time to expose them to the public.
He also mentioned that people across the country are aware of the ‘cut money’ culture and extortion prevalent in West Bengal. This has been a significant issue, and the government had handed everything over to a select few. Now, this practice has ceased, government revenue is increasing, and it is expected to continue growing.
