Uday Bhanu Chhibs Stance on Daler Mehndi Controversy and Political Issues

Uday Bhanu Chhib criticizes BJPs allegations against Daler Mehndi and discusses broader political concerns in India.

New Delhi, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : Uday Bhanu Chhib, the president of the Indian Youth Congress, addressed several pressing issues during a recent press conference in New Delhi. He responded to allegations against renowned artist Daler Mehndi, comments by Rahul Gandhi regarding the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and statements by Sanjay Raut linking Amit Shah to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Chhib emphasized the importance of substantiated claims, urging political leaders to refrain from making accusations without evidence.

Regarding the allegations against Daler Mehndi, Chhib stated that if Mehndi is innocent, BJP leaders should not make baseless claims. He highlighted Mehndi’s status as a respected artist and the expectation for public figures to behave responsibly. Chhib questioned the political motives behind the accusations, suggesting that BJP leaders are likely aware of the underlying agenda.

On the topic of delimitation, Chhib responded to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s assertion that Congress had been invited to discussions multiple times but failed to engage. He clarified that Congress has consistently advocated for delimitation based on the census, warning that the BJP’s approach could overlook several states and create political advantages, posing a threat to national unity.

Chhib accused the BJP of compromising the Constitution and democracy to maintain power, stating that their agenda prioritizes political survival over addressing inflation and public concerns. He also noted a lack of consensus among BJP’s allies on these issues.

In response to Raut’s comments linking Amit Shah to Lawrence Bishnoi, Chhib demanded that if the BJP possesses any facts, Shah should clarify his position. He criticized the government’s claims of controlling crime, pointing out that crime rates have increased since their administration took office. Chhib asserted that the responsibility for such incidents lies with Shah, not with the Home Minister of Pakistan.

Supporting Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about the RSS, Chhib argued that the BJP and RSS ideologies do not treat women as equals. He emphasized that the Congress and Youth Congress provide opportunities for women, citing that women make up 33% of the national executive in the Youth Congress. He questioned the representation of women within the BJP and RSS, suggesting their ideology seeks to confine women to domestic roles.

Finally, commenting on the withdrawal of petitions by CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after a reprimand from the Delhi High Court, Chhib expressed hope for their swift release, stating that the charges against them do not warrant prolonged imprisonment.

Chhib’s remarks reflect a broader critique of BJP’s political strategies and the current state of democracy in India.
