FSSAI Issues Notice to Nestlé India Over Lactogen Pro 1 Digestibility Claims
The FSSAI has issued a notice to Nestlé India, demanding scientific evidence for claims about Lactogen Pro 1s digestibility.

New Delhi, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a notice to Nestlé India regarding the claims associated with its Lactogen Pro 1 powder. On Wednesday, the regulatory body requested the company to provide scientific evidence supporting its assertion that the whey protein in the product is easily digestible.
This claim was reportedly made on the product’s packaging and advertising materials. The FSSAI has instructed the company to submit the necessary scientific evidence and relevant documents within a specified timeframe.
In its statement, the authority noted that the notice pertains to misleading claims related to Lactogen Pro 1 powder, Nan Excela Pro Stage 1, and infant milk alternatives. The FSSAI highlighted that the claim regarding whey protein’s digestibility was observed on the product’s packaging and promotional content.
Regulators have emphasized the importance of ensuring that claims made on product labels, packaging, and advertisements are backed by adequate scientific evidence and comply with national food safety and advertising regulations.
The notice recipients have been directed to clarify within the designated period why action should not be initiated against them under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the associated rules and regulations. This action is part of a broader campaign against misleading claims and non-compliance by food business operators.
The campaign encompasses various products from different companies, including nutritional items like Complan and Nan Excela Pro Stage 1, as well as infant feeding products.
