Uttar Pradesh Police Honors Fallen Heroes with Short Film Uniform
A special film by Uttar Pradesh Police pays tribute to fallen officers, showcasing their bravery and the emotional toll on their families.
Lucknow, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : In a heartfelt tribute to its fallen heroes, the Uttar Pradesh Police released a short film titled “Uniform” on October 21, 2026, coinciding with Police Memorial Day. This film honors police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty. Directed by renowned filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia, the film sensitively portrays the courage and dedication of these officers, alongside the emotional struggles faced by their families after such losses.
The film highlights the bravery of Inspector Sunil Kumar, a member of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) who was awarded the Kirti Chakra for his valor. On October 1, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored Kumar’s wife, Munesh Devi, with cash and a ceremonial shawl in recognition of her husband’s sacrifice.
“Uniform” conveys a powerful message about the pride families feel for their loved ones who gave their lives in service to the nation, while also depicting the profound emptiness and pain that their absence creates. The film captures the silent wait and emotional turmoil experienced by the families of martyrs, often difficult to express in words.
The film features notable performances from Bollywood actor Amit Sadh, veteran television actress Alka Amin, and Nazish Khan. The voiceover and script were crafted by constable Kapil Dinkar, stationed at the Uttar Pradesh Police Social Media Center, with creative direction provided by Rahul Srivastava, the police spokesperson.
Produced with the cooperation of the Uttar Pradesh Information and Public Relations Department, the film was shot in Mumbai. Tigmanshu Dhulia is acclaimed for his works in Hindi cinema, including “Haasil,” “Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster,” and “Paan Singh Tomar,” the latter of which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film.
Inspector Sunil Kumar was gravely injured during a confrontation with the Mukim Kala gang in Shamli on January 20-21, 2025. Despite his injuries, he exhibited remarkable courage by continuing to lead his team, resulting in the neutralization of four criminals, including a notorious figure with a bounty of one lakh rupees.
Sunil Kumar succumbed to his injuries on January 22, 2025. Through “Uniform,” the Uttar Pradesh Police aims not only to celebrate the sacrifices made by its brave officers but also to inspire its personnel to commit themselves to the service of the nation.
