Budget 2026 Boosts Opportunities for Content Creators

New Delhi, February 2: The Budget 2026 has brought encouraging news for content creators, with several initiatives aimed at giving them greater visibility and opportunities. The government plans to establish 15,000 AVGC (Animation, VFX, Gaming, and Comics) content creator labs in secondary schools and 500 colleges, a major step to promote digital storytelling and content creation skills among students.

These AVGC labs will equip students with essential skills like editing and thumbnail creation during their school and college years, helping nurture future content creators.

For creators working in travel, culture, history, and education, the budget introduces the National Destination Digital Knowledge Grid scheme. This initiative aims to digitally preserve India’s rich cultural heritage and historic sites, driving demand for reels, short videos, and documentaries.

The budget also proposes a new National Design Institution in eastern India to produce more trained designers, UI/UX specialists, and brand strategists, expanding the talent pool in the creative industry.

In collaboration with IIMs, a skill development programme will train 10,000 tourist guides, fostering partnerships between guides and content creators. Additionally, 15 archaeological sites, including Lothal, Dholavira, Sarnath, and Leh Palace, will offer enhanced storytelling facilities, creating more opportunities for creators specialized in research-based or visual-first content.

Furthermore, the budget allocates ₹1,476.83 crore for information and publicity and ₹2,750.19 crore for broadcasting. A portion of these funds is expected to strengthen the content creation industry and support creators across the country.
