New Delhi, August 9: Brazilian star midfielder Bruno Guimarães has officially completed his transfer to Arsenal. The club reportedly signed Guimarães for £75 million, significantly boosting their squad strength.
Previously, Guimarães was a key player for Newcastle United, making 195 appearances. During his tenure, he scored 31 goals and provided 32 assists. He played a crucial role in helping the team win the EFL Cup in the 2024-25 season and was instrumental in securing Champions League football for the club.
After joining Arsenal, Guimarães expressed his gratitude to the fans of his former club in a touching note.
He wrote, “This is one of the toughest decisions of my life. When I arrived, the club was in a challenging position, and I am very proud of what we achieved together. I fell in love with this place. I truly mean that. From day one, the supporters, teammates, and everyone associated with the club made me and my family feel at home.”
Guimarães also thanked PIF Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan and Jamie Rubin for their support. “I want to express my gratitude to David and Ross for honoring me. They did everything they could to keep me at Newcastle. I am very thankful for the time we spent together.”
As the competitive season kicks off, Arsenal will face Manchester City in the Community Shield final at Wembley Stadium. The match is set for August 16, with both teams eager to claim the first silverware of the season.
