Brisbane 2032 CEO Cindy Hook to Step Down After Contract Ends

New Delhi, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Cindy Hook, the CEO of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee, has announced her intention to step down at the conclusion of her four-year contract. Hook, who was appointed in February 2023, will leave her position when her contract expires early next year. The organizing committee expects to announce a new appointment in the coming months.

The committee’s board has accepted Hook’s decision to leave after her contract ends. According to the committee, “This is the right time to hand over the baton to a new leader, ensuring a smooth transition one year before the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and moving into the next crucial phase of operations, project management, and event delivery.”

In her statement, Hook reflected on her tenure, saying, “Over the past four years, I have achieved everything we hoped for and gained many wonderful experiences.”

As CEO, Hook was responsible for leading all aspects of the Games’ organization, aiming to create an outstanding experience for athletes and spectators while leaving a positive legacy for Brisbane, Southeast Queensland, and Australia.

Her responsibilities included planning for the Games, generating revenue through sponsorships, ticketing, and merchandising, managing venue operations, ensuring event security, and recruiting volunteers.

Andrew Liveris AO, president of Brisbane 2032, praised Hook’s leadership, stating, “Cindy was an exceptional leader. She began her role when the organizing committee was a startup and transformed Brisbane 2032 into a successful organization ready to take the Games to the next level.”

Liveris added, “Her focus on value, organizational excellence, and strict financial and governance processes contributed to the high-caliber team she assembled, and I thank her for her outstanding contributions.”
