New Delhi, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has expressed a heightened sense of motivation following a successful surgery on his hamstring. The injury occurred during a one-day series against Sri Lanka last month while he was batting.
In a recent Instagram post, Buttler shared, “I have had my operation. The surgery was successful, and I am recovering. I feel more motivated than ever.” He also posted a photo of himself giving a thumbs-up from his hospital bed, with a brace on his left leg.
Despite the surgery, concerns remain regarding his injury. Buttler has struggled with several soft-tissue injuries in recent years, primarily affecting his calves. He faced left hamstring issues during the IPL 2024 as well.
This injury has prematurely ended Buttler’s current season. There is no confirmed timeline for his return to the field. As a result of the injury, he will miss the upcoming triangular series in Pakistan and the white-ball tour of Australia in November. His participation in the South Africa T20 league (SA20), starting January 17, is also uncertain, where he is set to play for the Durban Super Giants.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Monday that Buttler’s contract has been extended for another year. However, it will conclude before the 50-over World Cup in South Africa next year.
Rob Key, Managing Director of Men’s Cricket, commented on the situation, stating, “We don’t believe that Buttler will miss the World Cup. He is part of our plans. If he were not, we wouldn’t be playing him. He is eager to play for England.”
