Chennai, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kashyap Viswanathan expressed confidence that former captain MS Dhoni still has cricket left in him. He believes Dhoni will make every effort to play one last season. The 45-year-old did not participate in IPL 2026 due to injury.
Speaking to the media in Chennai, Viswanathan stated that the decision regarding Dhoni’s participation in the next season is entirely up to him. “That’s a question you should ask him. I need to ask him too. When he comes to Chennai, he shares his decisions with us. I think there’s a chance he will continue playing for CSK. He is still a player, you know,” he said.
Questions about Dhoni’s future have arisen, especially since he missed the entire IPL 2026 season. Former CSK player and renowned batsman Suresh Raina also hopes to see Dhoni return for another IPL season. After Dhoni participated in the traditional lap of honor at Chepauk, Raina mentioned that he had urged Dhoni to come back for IPL 2027.
“I told him that he missed IPL 2026. It won’t count. He needs to return next year,” Raina said. The former left-handed batsman believes Dhoni has not completely closed the door on a comeback. “It will be his personal decision. I think he is positive. The team is also blending well again. Fans want him back. He told me he would see. That means he will work hard and return,” Raina added.
As for who will succeed Dhoni as the wicketkeeper-batsman for CSK, the team has already included Sanju Samson in the lineup last season. CSK had a disappointing performance, finishing eighth with six wins and eight losses out of 14 matches.
