Pune, August 4: Firefighters in Pune showcased remarkable bravery and quick thinking on Monday by successfully rescuing a young man trapped in a flooded river. Their efforts have garnered widespread praise.
The incident involved a 25-year-old man who was clinging to a pole in the midst of a fast-flowing river, desperately trying to save himself. Firefighters acted swiftly, demonstrating courage and resourcefulness to bring him to safety. Witnesses applauded the firefighters for their heroic actions.
The rescue took place around 4 PM when the fire department received a report about a young man stranded under the Garware Bridge. Immediately, a team from the Erandwane Fire Station was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found the young man terrified and holding onto a pole in the turbulent waters. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, they wasted no time. Equipped with life jackets, life rings, and ropes, they entered the water. They first reassured the young man, then carefully secured him with a safety rope and life jacket before guiding him safely to the riverbank.
The rescued individual was identified as Sagar Agav (25), a resident of Karvenagar. Once on solid ground, he breathed a sigh of relief, while onlookers praised the firefighters for their bravery and dedication.
Key members of this successful rescue operation included driver Mahesh Pangarkar and firefighters Sachin Aiwale, Ashutosh Pingale, Sagar Mundhe, Kamlesh Mane, Rahul Waghmode, and Nilesh Patil. Thanks to their courage and promptness, a precious life was saved.
