Quetta, May 13: The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Pakistani security forces across Balochistan, resulting in the deaths of seven soldiers.
According to local media, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahar M Baloch stated that on May 10, the group’s fighters ambushed a convoy of the Pakistani army in the Bancha area of Surab district.
He reported that the convoy was traveling between military camps when it came under fire from rockets, light machine guns, and other automatic weapons. The group claims that the attack caused significant damage to two army vehicles, killing five soldiers and injuring four others.
As reported by The Balochistan Post, the spokesperson noted that security personnel arrived at the scene shortly after, but were forced to retreat following further clashes with BLF fighters.
On the same day, in another attack, the BLF claimed it targeted a Frontier Corps (FC) post on the main bridge in the Taghazi area of Kharan district.
The group asserted that this assault, carried out with rockets, grenade launchers, and automatic weapons, resulted in the deaths of two FC personnel and injuries to three others.
Additionally, the BLF claimed that on May 7, its fighters targeted a communication tower in the Malaar Damb area of Kolwah, which was equipped with surveillance devices. According to the organization, the tower was disabled and set ablaze along with its connected machinery.
Moreover, on May 6, BLF fighters intercepted a police Eagle Force patrol team in Mastung, temporarily detaining the officers and seizing one of their Kalashnikov rifles.
On the other hand, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) also claimed responsibility for an attack on electricity infrastructure in Nasirabad district of Balochistan.
BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch stated that the group’s fighters planted explosives on two electricity transmission towers in the Mirwah area. These towers supplied power from a high-power plant to Quetta. The explosions completely destroyed two towers and severely damaged two others.
The BRG declared that their campaign would continue until “Balochistan’s freedom” is achieved.
These recent incidents come at a time when attacks by Baloch organizations on the Pakistani army and police in Balochistan have increased significantly, resulting in heavy casualties and widespread damage.
