BJPs Sanjay Sarawagi Predicts TMCs Downfall in Bengal Elections

Patna, April 26: Sanjay Sarawagi, the Bihar BJP state president, has claimed that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are set for a significant defeat in the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections.

This statement comes after the first phase of voting took place on April 23 for 152 assembly seats in Bengal, with reports indicating over 90% voter turnout. Following the voting, BJP leaders expressed their satisfaction, asserting that the public has voted for change. In contrast, TMC leaders maintain that the initial phase saw strong support for their party, claiming a “tsunami” in favor of Mamata Banerjee.

In an interview in Patna, Sarawagi stated that the mood of the electorate in Bengal is clear, suggesting that TMC and Banerjee will face a major setback. The first phase recorded a remarkable 92% voter turnout, with some constituencies reaching as high as 96-97%. Sarawagi criticized Banerjee for allegedly providing shelter to Rohingyas and Bangladeshis during her 15 years in power, asserting that her government is on the verge of collapse.

He also took a jab at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, claiming that he is not accepted in Bihar and has been decisively defeated by the electorate, even losing his position in the Rajya Sabha. Sarawagi remarked that Tejashwi’s frequent travels to Kerala and Bengal only serve to boost BJP’s vote share.

Regarding the ration scam in West Bengal, Sarawagi stated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is a constitutional body. He emphasized that any actions taken by the ED against leaders are based on governance-related issues and are unrelated to the elections, which come and go.
