New Delhi, July 28: Congress leaders have sharply criticized the central government regarding the operations of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the future of students, the paper leak controversy, and the alleged use of an AK-47 during student protests in Bihar. They claim the government is neglecting the interests of students and failing to address their issues.
Congress MP Imran Masood highlighted reports of AK-47 usage during the Bihar student protests, which prompted police action. He expressed concern over the BJP’s denial of this incident, raising questions about the government’s direction for the country. Masood warned that such actions against students pose a serious threat to the nation’s future.
He also accused the NTA of negligence, stating that it adversely affects students’ futures. He cited the case of a female student who answered all exam questions correctly but was marked wrong on one question during review, resulting in a loss of 16 points. This error prevented her from gaining admission to a government medical college, leading to significant mental distress. Masood noted that the NTA has not provided a satisfactory response to this issue.
Congress leader Rakesh Sinha expressed that the Congress party and the entire opposition are concerned about students’ futures. He accused the BJP government of repeatedly undermining student interests over the past 12 years. Sinha emphasized the need for accountability when implementing any laws or policies to prevent harming students.
He welcomed the decision to withdraw cases related to the Bihar student protests, calling it a positive step. Sinha warned that if these cases were not withdrawn, the protests could have intensified. He condemned the alleged permission for using AK-47s against students as unacceptable, asserting that filing numerous cases against them was also inappropriate.
Additionally, Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat reiterated the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, pointing out that his resignation letter did not mention the serious issue of paper leaks. He accused the government of evading accountability in this matter.
