New Delhi, August 3: BJP MP Naresh Bansal has responded to the by-election results and various contemporary issues, including the Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh case. He emphasized that the BJP thoroughly reviews the implications of every election outcome, analyzing both victories and defeats.
Regarding the by-election results, Bansal noted that public enthusiasm tends to be lower in by-elections compared to general elections, as a single seat does not determine the government’s fate. However, he stressed that both wins and losses hold significance in a democracy. He mentioned that by-elections occurred in three locations: the BJP achieved a remarkable victory in Gujarat’s Manjalpur, while it faced defeats in Bihar’s Bankipur and Madhya Pradesh’s Datia. The BJP will certainly examine the reasons behind these losses to understand why the expected results were not achieved.
In response to former Indian boxer Vijender Singh’s criticism of Rahul Gandhi’s silence regarding India’s performance in the Commonwealth Games, Bansal launched a sharp attack on the Congress leader. He stated that Rahul Gandhi has become a part-time Leader of the Opposition (LOP), spending most of his time abroad and working on foreign agendas. He accused Gandhi of attempting to tarnish India’s image internationally. However, he noted that when India’s reputation rises globally or when Indian athletes excel, Gandhi seems to lack the time to respond.
On Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen’s support for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and her statements regarding madrasas, Bansal remarked that Nasreen has endured a long struggle in her life, and her views are shaped by her personal experiences. He highlighted that she fought for 19 years and was denied the opportunity to live in the country due to the appeasement politics of previous governments. He praised her support for Indian culture and her efforts to highlight the issues she perceives within Islam through her literature.
Commenting on the Rouse Avenue Court’s acquittal of former MP and Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh regarding allegations from female wrestlers, Bansal stated that the final judgment of guilt or innocence lies with the court. He emphasized that while accusations can be made, only the court has the authority to declare someone guilty or innocent. He insisted that those acquitted by the court should have their dignity restored.
Addressing the protests at Jantar Mantar and the labeling of these actions as anti-national by thinkers from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bansal explained that the protests began as a peaceful student movement but later turned violent, indicating the involvement of anti-social elements. He noted that many thinkers believe that anti-national forces played a role in the protests. The violence that ensued made it clear that other elements had infiltrated what was initially a peaceful demonstration.
