Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Calls for Vigilance Ahead of Local Body Elections

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy urges party workers to gather evidence against electoral irregularities ahead of local body elections.

Tadapalli, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the president of the YSR Congress Party and former Chief Minister, has issued a call for heightened vigilance among party leaders and polling agents as local body elections approach. Speaking via video conference from the YSRCP central office, he emphasized the importance of documenting any irregularities and preparing for legal action against electoral misconduct.

During his address, Jagan highlighted the unprecedented malpractice observed during the nomination process, warning that such issues could persist during voting scheduled for November 1 and 5. He condemned various forms of electoral fraud, including occupation of nomination centers, attacks on candidates, destruction of nomination papers, and the illegal withdrawal of candidacies.

Raising concerns over the issuance of British citizenship certificates to opposition candidates, Jagan accused the government led by Chandrababu Naidu of operating like a mafia. He claimed that the administration is undermining democratic rights by using police and election officials to obstruct opposition candidates and facilitate uncontested victories.

The former Chief Minister expressed worries about potential voting fraud, interference with polling agents, tampering with ballot boxes, and irregularities at counting centers. He criticized the State Election Commission for failing to ensure adequate CCTV surveillance, despite directives from the Supreme Court, and urged party workers to capture every violation on video.

Polling agents were instructed to understand electoral processes, challenge suspicious votes, maintain their entry authorization, and promptly report any attempts to block their access to polling stations. Jagan advised district presidents to closely coordinate with regional coordinators and assembly and parliamentary officials, conducting bi-daily reviews and maintaining constant contact with the central office. All complaints should be forwarded to the central leadership for presentation to the State Election Commission and potential legal support.

He warned that every case of electoral irregularity would be investigated through legal channels, holding those responsible accountable. Continuous vigilance, coordination, and reliable evidence are essential to protect the rights of candidates and voters.

The video conference included notable party members such as Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, MVS Nagi Reddy, and MLC Lella Appireddy, among others.
