Gunfire Erupts Near Amritsars Tara Wala Bridge, One Dead in Gang Rivalry

A shooting near Tara Wala Bridge in Amritsar leaves one dead and another injured, linked to an ongoing rivalry.

Amritsar, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : A shooting incident near Tara Wala Bridge in Amritsar on Thursday evening has left one young man dead and another seriously injured, causing panic in the area. The attack is believed to stem from a long-standing feud between rival groups.

According to police reports, the victims, identified as Sharanjeet Singh and Akashdeep Singh, were riding a motorcycle when they were ambushed by about six assailants who opened fire on them. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the gunmen fired multiple rounds, hitting Sharanjeet once and Akashdeep twice.

Both men were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, Akashdeep succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while Sharanjeet remains hospitalized and is receiving care.

Following the shooting, the attackers fled the scene. Police teams quickly arrived to investigate and recovered three empty cartridge shells, suggesting at least three shots were fired during the ambush.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu stated that this incident is not connected to gang warfare but rather is related to an ongoing personal dispute. Records indicate that a serious altercation between the two parties occurred two to three years ago, which likely contributed to the current violence.

Authorities have identified two main suspects involved in the attack and are conducting raids in various locations to apprehend the others. Police officials assure the public that the suspects will be arrested soon, and the investigation is ongoing, with CCTV footage from nearby cameras being reviewed.

In response to the shooting, security measures in the area have been heightened, and police are thoroughly examining all aspects of the incident.
