New Delhi, August 8: Political discussions in Punjab have intensified following a meeting between Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Amid questions regarding alliances, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has confirmed its intention to contest all 117 assembly seats independently. BJP spokesperson RP Singh stated that the party is fully prepared to fight the elections alone in Punjab.
In an interview with a news agency, RP Singh mentioned that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had already made it clear during a rally in Moga that the BJP would contest all seats in Punjab. The party has begun strategizing and preparing for the elections. He noted that Sukhbir Singh Badal discussed the current situation in Punjab with PM Modi. The Prime Minister regularly meets with leaders from various states, and Punjab has been a particular concern for him. During their meeting, they addressed several critical issues, including law and order, drug problems, and paper leaks.
Regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi‘s visit to Prayagraj, RP Singh commented that Gandhi is free to go wherever he wishes, but there seems to be a lack of student engagement with him. He pointed out that while students were protesting in Delhi, Gandhi was abroad for 21 days. After returning, he did not join the protests at Jantar Mantar but instead set up his own camp. Students are aware of the situation, and some individuals attempt to hijack ongoing movements for their political gain. The opposition is using children and students as shields for their political agenda, while not genuinely standing with them.
On the topic of youth, the BJP spokesperson highlighted PM Modi’s address to young people, referring to them as the nation’s assets and future. Modi believes that the youth will play a crucial role in advancing the country. In the coming years, a significant number of new startups will emerge, driven by the energy and innovative ideas of the youth, which are vital for the economy and development.
RP Singh also responded to Rahul Gandhi’s questions regarding E20 fuel. He mentioned that Gandhi should verify facts before releasing any video. The vehicle Gandhi showcased in his video was clearly marked as ‘E20 compatible,’ indicating its suitability for E20 fuel usage.
Advising Rahul Gandhi to engage with Punjab’s farmers, RP Singh asserted that farmers in Punjab support E20, and those opposing it are facing protests from the farmers. The agricultural community is satisfied with the E20 issue, and Gandhi should discuss it directly with them.
In response to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s statements, RP Singh referred to the role of the RSS. He mentioned that he would send Kharge a book detailing the RSS’s history, noting that even before its establishment in 1925, its first Sarsanghchalak, Dr. K.B. Hedgewar, was involved in the freedom movement and had been arrested multiple times during his student life.
