BJP Supports PM Modis Call for Economic Resilience Amid Global Tensions

New Delhi, May 11: In light of ongoing global economic challenges and tensions in West Asia, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rallied behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s suggestions. These include working from home, attending online classes, carpooling, and reducing petrol and diesel consumption. National spokesperson RP Singh emphasized that in the current scenario, such small yet significant steps will aid in stabilizing the country’s economy.

In an exclusive conversation with a news agency, RP Singh noted that international conditions, particularly the rising tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel, have led to a spike in crude oil prices. This directly impacts India’s foreign exchange reserves. In this context, the Prime Minister’s emphasis on working from home and conserving resources is a prudent move. He urged citizens to reduce petrol and diesel consumption and adopt public transport and carpooling wherever possible.

Singh pointed out that India’s situation is currently better compared to other nations. In countries like the United States, Australia, the UK, and several European nations, petrol and diesel prices have surged by over 30%. In contrast, prices in India remain relatively stable, with no significant shortage of gas. However, he cautioned that vigilance is still necessary.

He also supported the Prime Minister’s appeal to adopt indigenous products as alternatives to cooking oils. Singh suggested using mustard oil or ghee instead of palm oil, which would not only improve health but also strengthen the economy and support farmers.

Regarding PM Modi’s advice against purchasing gold, Singh explained that India imports a substantial amount of gold each year, putting pressure on foreign currency reserves. “If gold purchases are halted for a year and existing gold is recycled, it would reduce the import bill and conserve dollars,” he added. He further stated that while the COVID-19 pandemic was a significant crisis, the current global situation poses even greater challenges, directly affecting energy and the economy. The conditions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz have disrupted the balance of global oil supply and prices.

Emphasizing the importance of adopting local products, Singh urged minimizing the purchase of foreign goods, whether fertilizers, textiles, or other items. He reiterated that prioritizing indigenous products aligns with the Prime Minister’s ongoing advocacy for ‘Vocal for Local.’
