Amitabh Bachchans Security Raises Concerns as He Meets Fans Behind Bulletproof Glass

Amitabh Bachchan meets fans behind bulletproof glass, sparking safety concerns in Bollywood as the AICWA demands better protection for film personalities.

Mumbai, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary Bollywood actor, continues his Sunday tradition of meeting fans outside his home, even at the age of 84. However, a recent encounter on November 1 took a concerning turn. This time, he was seen greeting fans from behind a bulletproof glass enclosure outside his residence, Jalsa, in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Accompanying him was his son, Abhishek Bachchan.

The image of Bachchan in this security setup has ignited a debate about safety in the film industry. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) expressed alarm over the situation, sharing the photo on social media and urging Maharashtra’s Chief Minister and Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, to provide robust security for film personalities from their homes to shooting locations.

AICWA’s post highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating, “The entire film industry is shaken to see Amitabh Bachchan behind bulletproof glass.” They called for comprehensive safety measures, emphasizing that the sight of such a revered figure needing such protection is unprecedented in Indian cinema.

For over four decades, Bachchan has welcomed fans outside his home every Sunday. Many travel from across the country and abroad for a glimpse of the star, making this tradition a significant part of his legacy. The recent security measures come in light of serious threats, including a bomb threat linked to his residence and a shooting incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu.

AICWA’s statement underscored that the current climate of fear is unprecedented, with actors now hesitant to leave their homes or attend shoots. They demanded answers from the government regarding the ongoing safety concerns for Bollywood personalities and questioned whether they would continue to live in fear.

The association’s president, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, has called for guarantees of safety for film industry members and urged for the dismantling of gangster networks that threaten their security. The demand for better protection comes amid rising concerns over safety in Mumbai, particularly following a shooting incident targeting Shroff’s vehicle on October 18, where he narrowly escaped unharmed.

In a separate incident on October 23, Mumbai’s Mayor, Ritu Tawde, received a threatening email that mentioned targeting Jalsa and other locations with bomb threats. This prompted a heightened security response from the police, who are actively investigating the source of the threats.

The AICWA’s concerns reflect a growing unease in the film community, as the safety of its members becomes increasingly jeopardized. The organization stands united with the industry, insisting that Mumbai, the heart of Indian cinema, should not exist under the shadow of fear.
