Indian Air Force Schools Enhance Digital Safety with Cybersecurity Training

The Indian Air Force has launched a digital safety initiative in 42 schools, training 261 teachers to combat cybercrime and protect students online.

New Delhi, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Air Force has undertaken a significant initiative to protect children from online scams, cybercrime, inappropriate content, and digital exploitation. This program connects 42 Air Force schools across the country with the “ScrollControl” child digital safety initiative. As part of this effort, 261 teachers have received training to address cybercrime-related issues.

These educators are equipped to provide initial assistance and ensure the digital safety of students. With the rise of high-speed internet and the accessibility of smartphones, schoolchildren are increasingly engaged with social media and the internet. However, not all online content is suitable for young audiences.

The risk of online exploitation, inappropriate contact, AI misuse, online gaming dangers, and financial fraud remains a concern. To tackle these challenges, teachers have received specialized training. This will enable schools to take timely action upon learning of any incidents. Additionally, cyber clubs will be established in these Air Force schools to provide students with cybersecurity training and certification.

Awareness sessions will also be organized for teachers, staff, and parents. Furthermore, families will have access to a platform that helps them understand the appropriateness of digital content based on their children’s ages. Schools that meet specified standards will be recognized as “Cyber Safe Schools.” The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed affiliated schools to celebrate “Cyber Awareness Day” each month and promote good cybersecurity practices.

This initiative marks a step forward in enhancing cybersecurity awareness at Air Force schools. It will enable schools to implement cybersecurity activities with the help of trained teachers. The program will also include training and certification for teachers, who will be incorporated into the national security database. Moreover, a 24-hour support system will be established for children and families affected by cybercrime, involving experts in cyber law, psychology, and digital forensics to assist victims as needed.

Through this initiative, children at Air Force schools will not only learn about internet usage but also its safe application. Teachers will be empowered to provide first aid in situations involving cyber threats. This program has been launched by the Air Force Educational and Cultural Society in collaboration with the ISAC Foundation during National Cyber Security Awareness Month, aiming to strengthen the infrastructure for protecting children from online dangers at the school level.
