Bhubaneswar, July 30: Senior BJP leader and MP Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi, Assembly Speaker Surma Padhi, and other senior BJP leaders just days after stepping down as the Union Education Minister.
The meeting, which took place on Wednesday, focused on key development projects and other significant issues concerning the state.
In a post shared late Wednesday night on the social media platform X, Pradhan highlighted that various topics related to Odisha’s development were discussed. He stated, “I had discussions with the Chief Minister, Assembly Speaker, state in-charge, and our party MPs on several important issues related to the development works in Odisha.”
This meeting occurred just a day after Pradhan returned to his home state. It marked his first visit since resigning from the Union Cabinet amid widespread protests regarding the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and other examination irregularities.
Upon his arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport on Tuesday, Pradhan received a warm welcome from BJP leaders and state ministers.
Taking moral responsibility for the irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination, Pradhan resigned from the central cabinet on July 25. Following his resignation, Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi praised Pradhan’s contributions to education and respected his decision to step down on moral grounds.
In a post on X, Majhi remarked, “As the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan led several significant reforms, including the historic National Education Policy (NEP 2020), laying a strong foundation for millions of students across the country.”
He further added, “His decision to resign, upholding high moral values, reflects his deep principles and unwavering dedication to public service. We are confident that his future will be bright. May Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath bless his journey ahead.”
