Delhi Police Files FIR After Assault on Kashmiri Youth During Protest

New Delhi, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Delhi Police has filed a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the assault of a Kashmiri youth during a recent protest against the ‘India’ bloc. The young man lodged a complaint with the police after the incident.

According to sources within the Delhi Police, the FIR was registered against unidentified individuals based on the youth’s complaint. The complainant identified himself as a supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that he was attacked by Congress workers when he arrived at the protest site carrying a picture of the Prime Minister. The police stated that they would investigate all aspects of the incident.

Earlier, Faheem Nazir, a resident of Srinagar, told reporters, “Rajiv Gandhi first brought EVMs in 1998. You all have the footage. I did not use any foul language towards Rahul Gandhi, yet I was severely beaten.” He emphasized that questions should be directed at Rahul Gandhi, asserting that it is a matter of freedom of expression.

Following the assault, Nazir expressed his commitment to raising awareness about what he termed a conspiracy to create conditions in India similar to those in Nepal or Bangladesh. “I am a citizen of this country, and it is my responsibility to ensure that India does not become like Nepal or Bangladesh,” he stated.

A video purportedly capturing the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the Kashmiri youth being pushed and assaulted by members of the crowd.

BJP leaders condemned the attack on the Kashmiri youth. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari shared the video on social media, accusing Congress workers of displaying a “chaotic mentality.” Another BJP spokesperson, Sajid Yusuf Shah, also criticized the alleged assault and questioned Congress’s commitment to dissent and freedom of expression.
