New Delhi, May 8: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva condemned MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday for linking the BJP’s ‘Mission Punjab’ to recent bombings in the state. Sachdeva described this as a reflection of the Aam Aadmi Party’s political desperation.
Sachdeva pointed out that any party supported by Arvind Kejriwal in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala has faced political marginalization. He noted that the Aam Aadmi Party was completely wiped out in the recent municipal elections in Gujarat.
He stated that this has led to a state of despair within Kejriwal’s party.
According to media reports, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on properties linked to builders associated with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday. During these raids, bags allegedly filled with crores of rupees were seen being thrown into the air.
Sachdeva indicated that this points to a network involving several officials, leaders, and builders in Punjab.
He further urged that Sanjay Singh, who had connected the BJP’s electoral ‘Mission Punjab’ to the bombings, should also respond to the allegations regarding the crores of rupees reportedly thrown in the air during the raids on Mann’s close associates.
In a related development, Punjab has sent a criminal defamation notice to Mann. The notice demands an unconditional apology across all media platforms and social media for allegedly linking the party to the recent bombings.
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh sent a legal notice to the Punjab Chief Minister on Thursday, demanding that he retract his statement and publicly apologize within seven days.
Chugh strongly objected to Mann’s ‘false, defamatory, and inflammatory’ claims regarding the bombings. He accused Mann of tarnishing the reputation and credibility of the political party.
The legal notice warned that if the Chief Minister fails to comply within the stipulated seven days, he would face criminal charges for defamation.
This controversy began on Wednesday when Chief Minister Mann launched his ‘Shukrana Yatra’ and alleged that the bombings were part of the BJP’s ‘preparation’ for the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
Two explosions occurred on Wednesday in Amritsar and Jalandhar. The state police indicated the involvement of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in these incidents, although no injuries were reported.
