Malda, February 4: BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has made sharp remarks regarding Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. During his visit to Malda in West Bengal, Ghosh engaged in discussions about the elections over tea with local residents. He expressed his views on Banerjee’s recent trip to Delhi and the SIR (State Identification Register) process.
Ghosh questioned why the Chief Minister traveled to Delhi while the SIR process was underway in West Bengal. He claimed that Banerjee realizes that if the SIR is conducted properly, she may not return to power. This, he suggests, is why she is creating a ‘drama’ in Delhi.
He noted that Banerjee held a meeting in Delhi for about an hour and a half, and immediately afterward, she began making statements to the press. Ghosh asserted that there is no issue with the SIR process itself; rather, he accused her party workers of harassing booth-level officers (BLOs). He alleged that the SIR process is being deliberately complicated to delay its completion.
The BJP leader also mentioned that just as the Election Commission successfully completed the SIR process in Bihar, a similar outcome is expected in West Bengal. He anticipates results akin to those seen in Bihar.
On the other hand, Purnia MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, responded to Banerjee’s meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi. He expressed support for her, stating that “Mamata is like Rani Jhansi” and knows how to fight.
While the BJP raises questions about the SIR process and Banerjee’s actions, voices of support for her are also emerging.
