Meet Harsh Malhotra: The New Leader of BJP Delhi Organization

New Delhi, May 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed new state presidents in four states, including Delhi. Harsh Malhotra has been entrusted with the leadership of the Delhi BJP. Let’s explore who Harsh Malhotra is.

Harsh Malhotra, a central minister, has previously held various positions within the organization. As a Member of Parliament representing East Delhi, he plays a significant role in the central government. Currently, he serves as the Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Malhotra began his political journey in 2012, winning the councilor election from the Welcome Ward. In 2015, he became the Mayor of the then East Delhi Municipal Corporation and chaired the Education Committee for three years.

Coming from the Punjabi community, Malhotra has a substantial support base in the East Delhi constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won the East Delhi seat by over 390,000 votes. Born on April 24, 1964, he was elected to the 18th Lok Sabha from East Delhi in June 2024.

When cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir declined to contest from East Delhi, the BJP nominated Harsh Malhotra, who secured victory and now serves as a Minister of State in the central government.

In addition to his political career, Malhotra is actively involved in social work. He is the president of the Dadhichi Body Donation Committee, which has been running awareness campaigns on organ donation and body donation in Delhi-NCR for the past 27 years.

Malhotra has a keen interest in environmental issues, health, and education. He has participated in various social welfare programs. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading and sports, with badminton, cricket, and swimming among his favorite activities.
