New Delhi, March 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a list of two candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
The BJP’s central election committee has nominated Krishna Saha for the Dalgaon constituency and Jiban Gogoi for the Sissibargaon seat in the 2026 elections. Previously, the party had announced its first list, which included 88 candidates. Notably, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma received a ticket for the Jalukbari constituency.
In the first list, the BJP also included names such as Ministers Ranjit Kumar Das, Ashok Singhal, Ajanta Neog, Chandramohan Patowary, Ranoj Pegu, Sanjay Kishan, Pijush Hazarika, and Bimal Bora. Senior Minister Chandramohan Patowary will contest from Tihu, while State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog will run from her previous seat in Golaghat.
Minister Ranjit Kumar Das has been allocated the Bhawanipur-Sorbhog seat, Pijush Hazarika will contest from Jagiroad (ST), Ashok Singhal from Dhekiajuli, Ranoj Pegu from Dhemaji (ST), Bimal Bora from Tingkhong, and Sanjay Kishan from the Makum constituency.
Meanwhile, the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) released its first list of candidates for Assam on Friday, nominating candidates for 17 assembly seats. TMC has fielded Udangsri Narzari from the Baokhungri seat in Kokrajhar district (AC 4), Mominur Islam from Bilasipara in Dhubri district (AC 10), Arif Akhtar Ahmed from Jaleswar in Goalpara district (AC 12), Kaushik Ranjan Das from Abhayapuri in Bongaigaon district (AC 16), and Kalyani Kalita from Bajali in Bajali district (AC 26).
It is important to note that elections for the 126 members of the Assam Assembly will be held on April 9, 2026, with vote counting and results to be announced on May 4, 2026. The BJP, Congress, and TMC are intensifying their election campaigns as they announce their candidates.
