BJP Accuses TMC of Political Violence Following Assistants Murder

New Delhi, May 8: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again launched a significant attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) regarding political violence in West Bengal. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla claimed that the murder of Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of newly elected MLA Suvendu Adhikari, was a planned contract killing.

Poonawalla stated that this incident is a direct result of the TMC’s rule characterized by political hatred, vengeance, and violence. He alleged that not only was Suvendu Adhikari’s PA targeted, but BJP worker Rohit Roy was also shot. Additionally, he mentioned that two to three other party workers have been killed.

He highlighted that over the past 10 to 12 years, more than 300 BJP workers have been murdered by individuals linked to the TMC. Poonawalla accused the Trinamool Congress of institutionalizing political violence.

The BJP spokesperson also referenced a statement by TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, who had remarked, “Your father won’t come to save you from Delhi,” asserting that the current events are a direct consequence of that statement.

Poonawalla asserted that once the BJP forms a government in West Bengal, all individuals involved in this violence will be identified and held accountable under the law.

Meanwhile, Janata Dal (United) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar responded to the political situation in West Bengal, urging Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to accept the public mandate. Kumar stated that while analyzing election results is their right, when a government loses the assembly’s confidence, it also loses the trust of the people. He emphasized that while accusations may arise, challenging the constitution and remaining obstinate sets a wrong precedent.
