Lucknow, August 17: Students from Jay Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Lucknow took to the streets on Monday to express their dissatisfaction with the school’s management. Despite heavy rain, the students marched approximately 2.5 kilometers to the Dubagga-Kanpur bypass intersection, where they sat down in protest. Their sudden appearance on the road created chaos in the area.
The students claimed that the lack of sufficient teachers was negatively impacting their education. They also raised concerns about the poor quality of food provided at the school and the inadequate medical care available when they fell ill. Despite multiple complaints regarding these issues, the situation had not improved, according to the students. One student reported that teachers used inappropriate language towards them, leaving them feeling distressed and unheard.
The students asserted that timely medical assistance was not available when someone fell sick at school. They alleged that responsible authorities had been informed about these problems several times, but no effective action had been taken. Upon learning about the protest, police and administrative officials arrived at the scene. The students demanded to present their grievances directly to the District Magistrate and sought immediate solutions to their issues.
Officials attempted to calm the students and restore order through dialogue. However, the students remained firm in their demand for the District Magistrate to come to the site and address their concerns promptly. Efforts were ongoing to engage with the students and resolve the situation.
