
Mumbai, August 17: The tragic stampede at the Ashok Dham temple in Lakhisarai district, Bihar, has drawn expressions of sorrow from President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and various leaders.
President Murmu took to social media, stating, “The news of the stampede in Lakhisarai, which resulted in the loss of lives of devotees, is extremely heartbreaking. I extend my deepest condolences to the grieving families and pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”
Prime Minister Modi also expressed his grief through a post on the social media platform X, saying, “I am saddened by the deaths caused by the stampede in Lakhisarai. My thoughts are with the affected families during this difficult time. I wish for the quick recovery of the injured, and the local administration is assisting those impacted.”
BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde shared his condolences on X, writing, “The incident in Lakhisarai is heart-wrenching. I am deeply saddened by this tragic event. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured and for strength for the bereaved families during this tough time.”
Bihar government minister Shreyasi Singh expressed her sorrow on social media, stating, “I am deeply pained by the loss of seven women in the tragic incident in Lakhisarai. May God grant the departed souls a place at His feet, provide patience to the families, and restore health to the injured.”
JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan commented, “This is an extremely sad incident, and the news of several devotees’ deaths is heart-wrenching. The SDPO has mentioned some rumors, but until the government provides an official statement on the entire incident, it is not appropriate to draw any conclusions.”
Reports indicate that at least seven people have died, and over twelve others are injured due to the stampede. The Bihar government has announced financial assistance of four lakh rupees to the families of the deceased.
