Banda, August 2 (H.S.) — A remarkable story of courage and quick thinking emerged on Saturday morning from Garariya village in Jasra police station area of Banda district, Uttar Pradesh. A 54-year-old man, bitten by a poisonous snake, not only killed the reptile with his slipper but also extracted the venom with a blade and walked himself to the hospital for treatment.

The incident involved Kamta Shivhare, son of the late Siddh Gopal Shivhare, who was sitting at his home when a snake suddenly appeared and bit him on the hand. Reacting swiftly, Kamta killed the snake on the spot using his slipper.
Demonstrating extraordinary composure, he then used a blade to make a small cut on the bite area to let the blood — and potentially the venom — flow out. Without panicking, he walked to the Jasra Community Health Centre on his own, where doctors gave him immediate medical attention and kept him under observation before discharging him.
Kamta later said that he felt dizzy for a while after the bite but remained calm. He also took a photograph of the snake using his mobile phone, which he later showed to the doctors. Medical staff confirmed the snake to be highly venomous.
A senior Emergency Medical Officer at the district hospital said that Kamta’s timely action and composed response helped prevent the venom from spreading dangerously. Any delay or panic could have led to serious consequences.
Kamta Shivhare’s brave and level-headed response has become the talk of the village. Locals praised his courage and pointed out how his calm approach set an example, especially when most people tend to panic in such situations.
