
Patna, May 13: Bihar’s Chief Minister, Samrat Chaudhary, has directed officials to expedite the distribution of piped natural gas (PNG) connections, particularly in residential complexes such as apartments and housing colonies.
This directive was issued during a high-level review meeting of the Food and Consumer Protection Department held at the Chief Minister’s residence.
During the meeting, Abhay Kumar Singh, the Secretary of Food and Consumer Affairs, presented a comprehensive report on the fuel supply situation in the state. He noted that there are currently 112,000 active PNG connections in Bihar, with 25,813 applications pending. Progress is being made rapidly in expanding the PNG infrastructure.
The Chief Minister emphasized that enhancing PNG availability in densely populated residential areas would significantly increase coverage and provide greater convenience to residents. He reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritize PNG connections in apartments and colonies, ensuring swift implementation on the ground and maximizing public convenience.
He stressed that expanding PNG access would not only simplify daily life but also promote the use of cleaner and more efficient fuel.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the availability of petrol, diesel, and PNG in the state. He assured that there is currently a sufficient fuel supply and urged citizens not to panic. Additionally, he appealed to the public to use four-wheelers only when necessary and to adopt electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce fuel dependency and pollution.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Food and Consumer Protection Minister Ashok Chaudhary, Bihar’s Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Deepak Kumar, B. Rajendra, Lokesh Kumar Singh, and Sanjay Kumar Singh. Officials from major oil companies were also present during the review.
