Patna, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Bihar’s Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inaugurated the Teacher’s Day celebrations on September 5 at the Shrikrishna Memorial Hall in Patna, marking the birth anniversary of renowned educator Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. During the event, he emphasized the vital role teachers play in shaping the character of the nation and society. He stated that quality education and knowledge are essential for steering Bihar towards a brighter future.
Chaudhary noted that teachers do more than impart knowledge; they significantly influence students’ character and national spirit. He extended his best wishes to all educators on this special day, asserting that the prosperity of Bihar and India hinges on teachers fulfilling their responsibilities with dedication. The CM highlighted Bihar’s illustrious educational heritage, citing historic universities like Nalanda and Vikramshila as evidence of the state’s past as a global knowledge hub.
He revealed that the land acquisition process for Vikramshila University has been completed, with plans to bring the project to fruition within the next year. The Chief Minister outlined ongoing educational reforms in Bihar, mentioning that the number of degree colleges had been limited for many years post-independence. However, substantial efforts are now underway to expand educational institutions and model schools. Currently, 551 model schools have been established, with a goal of developing around 700 more. These institutions will also provide resources for students preparing for competitive exams like NEET and JEE.
Additionally, Chaudhary announced that a dedicated app would offer live teaching assistance for students studying from home. Teachers will receive training in modern technologies and artificial intelligence. To enhance teacher training, a specialized university will be set up. Plans are also in motion for Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee University, focusing on AI and computer science, as well as Shaheed Jubba Sahni University for civil engineering and architecture.
The Chief Minister also discussed plans for significant improvements in examination and result systems. The aim is to release results for Plus Two and matriculation exams within seven days of completion. Efforts are underway to ensure that engineering and polytechnic exam results and answer sheets are available online within 24 hours. A new salary structure for non-government teachers will be developed by combining government grants and internal resources. Additionally, he assured that pending salaries for teachers in madrasas and Sanskrit schools would be paid in September.
Chaudhary encouraged the promotion of private universities in Bihar to prevent students from seeking higher education opportunities in other states. He mentioned efforts to establish a BHU center in Bihar and the development of new IT centers.
The CM urged students to pursue knowledge without shortcuts, asserting that knowledge is the strongest foundation for success in life. He reiterated that both students and teachers play crucial roles in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India and Bihar’s goal of prosperity.
