Gandhinagar, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel marked Teacher’s Day on Saturday by proclaiming that education is not merely a profession but a sacred “national duty” that shapes individuals and builds the nation.
During a special ceremony in Gandhinagar, he honored 40 exemplary teachers with the “Best Teacher Award,” presenting them with certificates and cash prizes.
Earlier in the day, Patel participated in the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations at the Ranchhodrayji Temple, engaging with local residents and contributing to the Teacher Welfare Fund as part of the festivities.
The Chief Minister visited the historic 250-year-old Ranchhodrayji Temple, taking part in prayers and rituals, while seeking blessings for peace, prosperity, and comprehensive development in Gujarat. The temple’s head priest, Shri Hariram Swami 1008 Mahamandaleshwar, blessed Patel during his visit. Villagers welcomed him with traditional turbans, shawls, and mementos.
Patel also prayed at the Hanumanji Temple, extending greetings to the community on Janmashtami. The festival saw significant participation from devotees across Gujarat, centering on the celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth.
In honor of teachers’ contributions to education and society, Patel made a voluntary contribution to the Teacher Welfare Fund, reinforcing the tradition of celebrating educators on September 5. School children from various institutions visited the Chief Minister’s residence in the morning to gather donations for the fund.
Patel engaged with the students and contributed himself, furthering the tradition of honoring teachers on this significant day. Teacher’s Day in India is celebrated on September 5 in memory of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday.
