Bihar: Four FIRs Filed for LPG Regulation Violations in Patna

Patna, March 13: The district administration in Bihar’s Patna has intensified monitoring to ensure the smooth supply and distribution of domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

So far, four cases have been registered concerning violations of LPG regulations. Three FIRs were filed in the Barh sub-division and one in the Danapur sub-division.

Officials reported that cases were registered against restaurant and cafe operators in Barh for using domestic LPG cylinders, which is a violation of current regulations that mandate the use of commercial cylinders.

In Danapur, an FIR was filed related to the black marketing of LPG cylinders.

The District Magistrate stated that the administration is fully committed to ensuring a transparent and uninterrupted supply of domestic LPG for consumers.

Additional District Magistrates, district-level officials, sub-divisional officers, and block-level officers have been instructed to conduct regular inspections and raids at the premises of LPG dealers and distributors. Officials are also gathering feedback from consumers and the general public.

The DM has directed officials to file FIRs immediately upon receiving complaints of black marketing, hoarding, or overcharging, and to arrest the offenders.

He warned that any laxity, negligence, or irregularity will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against violators under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA).

To further strengthen monitoring, the administration has formed 28 enforcement squads (Dhawa Dal) at the block level to address complaints related to domestic LPG and prevent hoarding.

Block supply officers, block supply inspectors, and assistant district supply officers have been appointed as nodal officers for these squads.

These officials are tasked with acting on complaints received from consumers and control rooms and providing immediate resolutions.

To ensure effective resolution of LPG-related complaints, all sub-divisional officers have been designated as senior responsible officers for the enforcement teams operating within their respective jurisdictions.

The district administration has appealed to the public to report any irregularities so that swift action can be taken against those involved in illegal LPG trade.
