Greater Noida, March 13: The Beta-2 police in Greater Noida have apprehended two notorious burglars involved in a series of thefts from abandoned homes. The police recovered jewelry worth approximately ₹10.5 lakh, a laptop, two wristwatches, an illegal firearm, live ammunition, and the vehicle used in the crimes.
According to police reports, the arrests occurred on Friday near the Nat Madhaiya roundabout, aided by local intelligence and electronic surveillance. The suspects have been identified as Avadhesh, son of Layak Singh, and Balraj, son of Rampal.
During interrogation, it was revealed that both individuals are seasoned thieves who conducted reconnaissance in the area. They specifically targeted homes that had been unoccupied for extended periods. The burglars would break in through windows or doors, stealing valuable items and jewelry before fleeing the scene. After the thefts, they would hide the stolen goods and later sell them, splitting the proceeds.
The police indicated that the suspects, along with an accomplice, targeted an abandoned house in Sector 36 of the Beta-2 area on the night of February 28, 2026. They gained entry by cutting a window and made off with valuable items and jewelry, escaping in a Wagon R car. Following the theft, they divided the money and concealed the remaining items in the Site-4 area.
A significant amount of stolen property was recovered from the arrested suspects, including a necklace, four rings, three pairs of earrings, two nose rings, one pin, one garland, 26 toe rings, four children’s bangles, two chains, 21 pairs of anklets, four utensils, four white metal beads, and two wristwatches. Additionally, a laptop and its charger were also recovered.
The police have registered a case at the Beta-2 police station regarding the theft, and another case under the Arms Act due to the illegal firearm found. Authorities are now investigating the suspects’ other accomplices and their criminal history.
