Bihar Chief Minister to Send 1,100 Pilgrims on Somnath Journey on July 20

Patna, July 19: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced on Sunday that over 1,100 devotees will embark on a special journey to visit the holy site of Somnath on July 20 from Patliputra Junction. He described this event as not just a religious pilgrimage but also a historic opportunity to connect with India’s cultural heritage, national pride, and eternal traditions.

The Chief Minister shared on the social media platform ‘X’ that the year 2026 holds significant historical importance. He noted that it marks the 1,000th anniversary of the brutal attack on the Somnath temple and the 75th anniversary of its restoration by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India’s first President.

According to him, this journey celebrates the glorious heritage, cultural renaissance, and national pride of India. The Bihar government has made extensive arrangements to ensure a smooth and safe journey for the pilgrims.

He mentioned that adequate provisions for food, medical care, security, accommodation, and other essential services have been ensured, allowing devotees to visit Somnath without any inconvenience. The state government’s aim is to connect society with its cultural roots and introduce the younger generation to India’s illustrious history and eternal traditions.

He added that such religious and cultural journeys also strengthen social harmony and national consciousness. In his message, the Chief Minister wished all pilgrims a blessed journey and prayed that Lord Somnath continues to bestow his blessings on Bihar, the nation, and all of humanity.

He concluded his message with the chants “Har-Har Mahadev” and “Jai Somnath.” According to the poster shared by the Chief Minister, the group of pilgrims will depart for Somnath Dham on July 20 from Patliputra Junction.

The poster indicated that more than 1,100 devotees will participate in this journey. The state government believes this initiative will be a significant step towards promoting cultural heritage preservation and public participation alongside religious faith.
