NCB Strengthens Joint Strategy Against Drug Trafficking in Rajasthan

The NCBs recent meeting in Jaipur focused on enhancing cooperation and enforcement against drug trafficking networks.

Jaipur, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) held its third quarterly state-level Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting for 2026 in Jaipur on Saturday. The meeting aimed to enhance intelligence sharing, financial investigations, and coordinated enforcement against drug trafficking.

The meeting was co-chaired by the NCB’s Deputy Director General (Western Region) and the Inspector General of the Rajasthan Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). Representatives from various agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Customs, Income Tax Department, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Drug Controller’s office, and state ANTF actively participated.

During the discussions, participants focused on improving coordination among agencies, reviewing significant cases related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, dismantling drug trafficking networks, and seizing large quantities of narcotics. They also addressed monitoring bail granted to repeat offenders and preventing the illegal diversion of opium and poppy straw, along with the status of de-addiction centers.

The officials emphasized the importance of joint inquiries and intelligence sharing to dismantle drug trafficking syndicates. They also discussed expediting enforcement measures to achieve the goals outlined in the “Narcotics Control Vision Document (2026-29).”

Earlier in August, a similar JCC meeting was held for the neighboring state of Gujarat, chaired by the NCB’s Deputy Director General (Western Region) Manish Kumar, with the IB’s Additional Director Rajiv Ahir co-chairing.

During that meeting, officials discussed inter-state and inter-agency relations and reiterated their commitment to collaborate against drug trafficking and organized narcotics networks in Gujarat.

The NCB presented two significant cases related to NDPS, discussing operational methods, inter-state relationships, and areas needing coordinated action among agencies. The DRI also presented a crucial NDPS case, focusing on investigation patterns and inter-agency relations.

The meeting included senior officials from the state ANTF, DRI, NIA, Customs, Border Security Force (BSF), Indian Coast Guard (ICG), Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), and the state Drug Controller. Key issues discussed included the narcotics control vision document, the action taken report from the previous JCC meeting, critical NDPS cases, and inter-state relations.
