Government Registers 10.88 Crore Active Workers Under VB-G Ramji Scheme

The VB-G Ramji scheme has registered 10.88 crore active workers, creating over 2.83 lakh assets and ensuring significant rural employment.

New Delhi, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : The Government of India has reported significant advancements in the implementation of the Developed India-Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural), known as the VB-G Ramji scheme. As of the 2026-27 period, the initiative has registered 10.88 crore active workers and created a total of 2.83 lakh assets.

The program has generated over 31.69 crore person-days of work, with women’s participation reaching an impressive 61.65 percent. More than 2.81 crore workers from approximately 2.23 crore rural families have been provided employment based on demand, while nearly 97.17 lakh workers are currently engaged in ongoing projects.

A statement highlighted that the VB-G Ramji scheme integrates employment, participatory planning, and rural development. Through the Village Gram Panchayats, local needs are identified, existing assets are mapped, and development activities are prioritized.

Technology, coordination, and digital systems enhance implementation, transparency, and accountability. This framework links employment to sustainable asset creation, thereby supporting resilient livelihoods and comprehensive rural development.

The statement also noted that 73.24 lakh approved projects are available to meet future employment demands, with around 20.16 lakh active work sites currently operational. Across the country, approximately 2.31 lakh Gram Panchayats are executing projects, and there were 3.76 crore direct benefit transfer transactions recorded in 2026-27.

Wage rates range from 300 to 450 rupees per day, with 15.17 crore rural employment guarantee cards issued. The transition from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to the VB-G Ramji scheme has been smooth and seamless, with digital systems supporting the implementation from the outset.

The VB-G Ramji Act, enacted in 2025, guarantees 125 days of wage employment each financial year. This guarantee covers every rural family whose adult members voluntarily engage in unskilled physical labor. The initiative promotes empowerment, development, convergence, and saturation, aiming for a prosperous and resilient rural India.
