Karnatakas RSS Dussehra March Faces Restrictions in Tumakuru, Conditional Approval in Kalaburagi and Hubli
The RSS faces a ban on its Dussehra march in Tumakuru while receiving conditional approval in Kalaburagi and Hubli amid political tensions.

Tumakuru, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has not yet secured police permission to hold its Dussehra march in parts of Karnataka, including Tumakuru district. However, the organization has been granted conditional approval to proceed with marches in Kalaburagi and Hubli.
This development unfolds amid ongoing political disputes regarding the state government’s stance on RSS activities and statements from Home Minister Priyank Kharge about the need for proper authorization. Kalaburagi is notably the ancestral home of both Priyank Kharge and his father, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
The RSS had planned to conduct Dussehra processions in Tumakuru city, Tumakuru rural, Kunigal, and Gubbi on Saturday and Sunday. Due to the upcoming assembly elections in the graduate constituency, police permission has not yet been granted.
Sources indicate that the RSS submitted a request to the police four days ago to obtain permission for the scheduled processions.
The issue gained political significance following Home Minister Priyank Kharge’s remarks that the Karnataka police are not beholden to the RSS and that the organization must adhere to the established procedures for obtaining permission. He emphasized that merely submitting a notification would not suffice.
In contrast, the RSS has received conditional approval for its Dussehra procession in Kalaburagi. Reports suggest that RSS representatives filled out the required forms as mandated by the Home Department and submitted them to the authorities.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police for law and order in Kalaburagi has granted the procession permission under certain conditions, including adherence to the designated route and a ban on inflammatory speeches. The march is set to begin at Nageshwar School and conclude at the Sharana Basaveshwara Jatra ground.
In Hubli, the RSS plans to hold a procession and public meeting on Sunday. The march will commence from Nehru Maidan and is expected to pass through various parts of the city. Prominent figures, including Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and former Chief Minister and BJP MP Jagadish Shettar, are anticipated to participate, with over 10,000 attendees expected.
