
Patna, August 20: The Bihar Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, made significant decisions during a meeting aimed at enhancing infrastructure, agriculture, employment, animal husbandry, cooperatives, and information technology. A total of 13 proposals received approval.
Among these, the six-lane Greenfield expressway project from Buxar to Bhagalpur, the establishment of new tubewells for irrigation, a plan to increase livestock productivity, and several crucial decisions related to the cooperative sector were included.
The Cabinet approved the proposal from the Public Works Department for the Buxar-Bhagalpur six-lane fully controlled Greenfield expressway project. This approximately 336-kilometer project will be implemented through the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited under the PPP (DBFOT Toll) model.
The project will also involve hiring consultancy and transaction advisory services for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and developing large land parcels around the corridor for economic use. This initiative is expected to enhance road connectivity and boost economic activities in various parts of the state.
Additionally, two proposals from the Water Resources Department were approved. An allocation of ₹30.35 crore was sanctioned for the restoration of the Janakinagar branch canal and its discharge systems under Narpatganj, while ₹35.81 crore was approved for the restoration of related canal systems in Katihar, Phoolpur, Hasan Ganj, Baijnathpur, and Semapur. Furthermore, a financial approval of ₹63.93 crore was granted for the ‘Breed Improvement Scheme’ by Comfed, Patna, aimed at increasing milk production and livestock productivity in the state for the financial year 2026-27.
Under the Small Water Resources Department’s proposal, ₹83.60 crore was approved for the establishment of 1,000 new tubewells in the Chief Minister’s private tubewell scheme, in addition to the already sanctioned 35,000 tubewells. This initiative will expand irrigation facilities for farmers.
The Youth, Employment, and Skill Development Department received approval to rename regional planning offices located in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Gaya, Chapra, Bhagalpur, and Rohtas to their respective district planning offices. The Cabinet also approved a 50% waiver on stamp duty and registration fees for land lease documents acquired for the Kajra Solar Power Project.
Moreover, the Cabinet sanctioned a memorandum of understanding between Tayo India Private Limited and the Bihar government to develop an artificial intelligence ecosystem in the state.
Several proposals from the Cooperative Department also received the green light. This includes the formation of primary sugar mill cooperative societies in the notified reserved area of sugar mills, a plan to develop 48,200 metric tons of storage capacity through the construction of warehouses with capacities of 200, 500, and 1,000 metric tons for an estimated cost of ₹34.95 crore, and the formation of fishery cooperative societies.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the dissolution of the Bihar Panchayat Raj Finance Corporation Limited, amendments to the Bihar Social Media and Other Online Media Regulations-2024 to incorporate new rules, and other administrative proposals.
