Raipur, May 29: Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, launched a sharp attack on the central government regarding the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper leak. He stated that the issue lies within the Ministry of Education, but the solution is being sought elsewhere.
Speaking to reporters, Baghel remarked, “If the army is now being called in for paper security, it clearly indicates that the government does not trust its own police.” He emphasized that the real problem should be addressed within the ministry rather than involving the military.
Baghel also questioned the central government’s inaction towards Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He noted, “Dharmendra Pradhan himself admitted that there were discrepancies in the exam. If this is acknowledged, he should be removed from his position immediately. If he does not resign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take action.”
He cited the example of the former Director General of NTA, who was later appointed as Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office despite the paper leak occurring during his tenure. Baghel asked, “Is it justifiable to protect a minister despite repeated paper leaks?”
Following the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam nationwide, the central government has decided to conduct a re-exam on June 21. Unprecedented security measures are being implemented to prevent any irregularities this time. Sources indicate that the deployment of the army at sensitive centers is under consideration.
Baghel also targeted both the central and state governments, accusing the BJP and RSS of spreading hatred and anger across the country, with visible consequences now emerging. He alleged that the ruling BJP government in Chhattisgarh is fostering chaos, citing incidents where a legislator assaulted an officer in a tehsildar’s office, yet an FIR was filed against the victim. He claimed that fabricated cases are being registered against Congress district vice presidents, stating, “This government operates out of self-interest and is creating disorder.”
